SARACOM

SARACOM is a material composite with properties tailored to the specific areas of a tool where they are needed. It is a powder-metallurgically produced combination of materials from different groups, including cemented carbide. The working area of the tool combines different steel, cobalt-based hard alloy or superalloy materials, while the body consists of a commercially available tool steel or a powder-metallurgical steel.

Because the body can be machined, attaching the tools mechanically to the relevant fixtures is much easier than with tools made entirely from hardened materials.

Unlike similar material composites, the SARACOM composite system is produced by solid-state diffusion between the material groups during hot isostatic pressing. With a suitable material pairing, the composite is in a low-stress state, significantly extending both the range of applications and the service life of the tools.
